Gehwara-e-Adab Poetry Recital evening
First of its kind in the history of Windsor city

Toronto Monday March5th 2012 – On Sat March 3rd, renowned literary organization ‘Gehwara-e-Adab’ Canada organized a memorable evening of Urdu Poetry recital ‘Mushaira’ for the citizens of Windsor a border city of Canada 400 km away from Toronto, Ontario.

A large number of people attended this gathering, it is considered to be first of its kind in the history of city and a new milestone has been set by Gehwara-e-Adab Canada by organizing this event in a remote part of the Ontario.

The evening was presided by renowned Urdu scholar Urooj Akhtar Zaidi, amongst with Patron of Gehwara-e-Adab Canada Wali Aalam Shaheen another renowned personality of Urdu Literature and poetry. Two renowned names of Urdu poetry Irfan Sattar and Zakia Ghazal was the Chief Guest for the evening. Event was conducted by member Gehwara-e-Adab Canada (Windsor) Kashif Rafiq and second part by member Central Committee of Gehwara-e-Adab Canada Mohammad Abbas, both invited the poets who gathered from Toronto, Windsor Ottawa and nearby cities.

A fine presentation of Urdu poetry was witnessed by the audience; many marked it as a memorable evening in their life to be remembered for a long time.

Poets who presented their poetry throughout the night were Urooj Akhtar Zaidi, Wali Aalam Shaheen, Irfan Sattar, Zakia Ghazal, Afzal Naveed, Munif Asha’r, Tariq Hussain, Faisal Azeem, Anis Farooqui, Mohamed Qasim, Talat Zehra, Jamal Naqvi, Meena Chopra, Khalid Aziz, Beena Khalid and Anwar Kamal Rizvi.

The success of this event was mainly due to the hard work and dedication of Gehwara-e-Adab Canada’s Windsor team including Dr.Syed Ali, Kashif Rafiq and Nafees Haider.

Many who attended appreciated Gehwara-e-Adab for their contribution to Urdu and Literary activities and requested to continue such events in future also, Gehwara-e-Adab also promised them to continue their efforts in promoting art, culture and literary activities in Windsor as well as other parts of Canada .

In this respect Gehwara-e-Adab Canada is planning to organize their annual grand poetry event in Toronto in coming month of May 2012 details of which will soon be announced.
